With millions of wireless phones being retired across the globe, Sprint has taken a leadership role in both developing more sustainable products and ensuring they are responsibly recycled at the end of their life.

The EPA estimates 135 million cell phones are discarded each year, with only 11 percent being responsibly recycled. Idle devices are a waste of valuable materials when they end up unused in a drawer — or worse, in a landfill, where they can potentially release toxins into the environment.

We put these devices back to work by refurbishing them and reintroducing them to the market or by disassembling and recycling them for materials such as metal and plastic.

To help address the growing e-waste problem, Sprint offers two wireless programs, Sprint Buyback and Sprint 1Million Project. Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Sprint Prepaid customers can recycle their devices through the 1MillionProject.
